According to the new study by UNISEF and LSE the majority of children participating online simultaneousy gain benefits and face risks. Some of the benefits are social connections, health knowledge, learning and new digital skills. On the other hand, some of the identified risks were sexual content, conversations with unknown individuals, or other types of harmful experiences. Aiming to build a global network of researchers investigating benefits and risks for children online, UNISEF launched the Global Kids Online Project. Their website offers "high quality, flexible research tools" which have been tested in pilot studies with kids age 9-17 in four countries of the world: Serbia, the Phillipines, South Africa and Argentina.
